CAIRO (TNS) Ishaq Dar, Egyptian FM discuss Gaza crisis, call for immediate ceasefire

CAIRO: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank, calling for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of innocent Palestinian lives.

The two leaders held talks on the sidelines of the D-8 Ministerial Meeting in Cairo, where they discussed regional developments, including the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Both foreign ministers reaffirmed their unwavering support for the establishment of a viable, contiguous, and independent Palestinian state, based on pre-June 1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar congratulated the Egyptian government for successfully hosting the D-8 Summit and Ministerial Meeting and extended gratitude to Foreign Minister Abdelatty for the warm hospitality.

Highlighting the deep-rooted and multifaceted relations between Pakistan and Egypt, the two ministers agreed to strengthen cooperation in political, defence, cultural, economic, and trade sectors, as well as enhance people-to-people exchanges.

Dar also appreciated Egypt’s significant role in facilitating humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza and its diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire in the occupied Palestinian territories.
