Karachi (TNS)(Report pirbux Noonari)Karachi An awareness and introductory event was held at Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) Korangi Town ahead of the property survey launch under the World Bank’s CLICK Project. The purpose of this event was to educate citizens about the benefits and process of the property survey.

The event was attended by Chairman Korangi Town Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, Sindh Government Spokesperson Muhammad Ali Rashid, TMC Commissioner Faiz Muhammad Sheikh, Opposition Leader Muhammad Haroon, and other notable figures. The event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Vice Chairman Faisal Basit, while Shah Rukh served as the host.

CLICK Project Representative Madiha Masood provided a detailed briefing, explaining the goals, methodology, and benefits of the property survey. In his address, Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh stated that all collected property taxes would be utilized for local development projects, including parks, streetlights, and other infrastructure improvements. He emphasized that if they successfully collect 80% of the tax, Korangi could be transformed into a model town.

CLICK representatives Shakeel Siddiqui and Muhammad Ajmal highlighted that the last property survey was conducted in 2001, and the new survey aims to reassess the value and area of all developed and undeveloped properties for a transparent and fair taxation system.

Previously, the Sindh Government collected these taxes, but now local councils have been empowered to collect them, ensuring better decision-making for regional development.

The event witnessed participation from representatives of all union committees of Korangi Town, TMC officials, and a large number of employees. Attendees asked various questions regarding the survey, which were addressed satisfactorily.

This property survey marks a significant step towards the development of Korangi Town and will help provide better urban services to its residents.
