Islamabad, August 7 (TNS): Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed petitions seeking travel ban on former prime minster Nawaz Sharif and his family member.

The single-judge bench of Justice Amir Farooq in a brief verdict rejected all petitions which sought names of Sharif family members to be put on exit control list (ECL) after Panama case verdict. The judge said petitions are maintainable. Earlier, the court has reserved its verdict in connection with maintainability of petitions that sought names of Sharif family members including ex-premier Nawaz Sharif to be put on ECL.

The lawyer of the petitioners had cited ECL Rules 2010, saying the Panama case has vindicated beyond doubt that it is a corruption case and members of Sharif family likely to escape the country. The petitioner had said one of the accused is wandering on the London streets, adding Sharif family has a track record of fleeing from the country.
