Former National Assembly Speaker Syed Fakhar Imam has expressed concern over Pakistan’s ongoing political, economic, and social crises, urging the government to take immediate and effective action. He emphasized that national unity and strategic planning are essential for the country’s development.
Syed Fakhar Imam described the recent floods as a major challenge, stating that swollen rivers have caused severe damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and livelihoods, leaving millions homeless. He stressed that it is the state’s responsibility to ensure the immediate protection of affected communities.
Highlighting the need for preventive measures, he called for the construction of new dams and the protection of water reservoirs. “If immediate action is not taken, such disasters will be repeated every year,” he warned.
He also urged that affected people be provided with shelter, education for children, healthcare facilities, and transparent financial assistance, noting that any delay could result in a significant humanitarian crisis.
Addressing the government directly, Syed Fakhar Imam emphasized that public service should take priority over politics, as this is the only path to national survival and progress.
Analysts said his remarks send a clear message that Pakistan needs swift, practical, and transparent measures to overcome political and social challenges, with development, stability, and public welfare as top priorities.
