KARACHI (TNS) Karachi New Mianwali Colony UC 14 faces severe neglect, poor sanitation, traffic chaos, and widespread encroachments. The locality serves as the commercial hub of the entire UC where residents from several neighborhoods visit daily for essential shopping. The central Muhammadia Mosque also stands in the same area, yet the locality remains without meaningful administrative oversight.
Traffic remains uncontrolled. Qingqi rickshaws, pushcarts and vendors occupy any space they choose. Sanitation services have collapsed, creating serious hardship for residents.
The most critical problem is the choking of the main sewerage drain. The drain receives sewage from Koari Colony, Iqbal Nagar, Banarsi Mohalla, Awan Colony, Hassan Zai Mohalla and Gilgiti Mohalla. Encroachments built directly over the drain and administrative negligence have blocked the flow of sewage. This results in constant flooding of dirty water and foul smell around the main chowk.
Students of madrassas and schools, worshippers of the mosque, funeral attendees and daily customers all face the same ordeal.
Residents have urged higher authorities to take immediate action, remove encroachments, clean the main drain and restore traffic and sanitation systems to provide relief to the public.
