Lahore (TNS) The Pakistan Army is determined to meet all kinds of challenges. The unwavering commitment of the armed forces to protect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and internal stability of the country reflects a vision that is based on foresight, professionalism, and national responsibility.
The armed forces of Pakistan are fully committed to protecting the lives and property of the people. Under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces, the armed forces took comprehensive and effective measures for national security, defense preparedness, and regional stability during the year 2025. National sovereignty and protection of the lives and property of the people were ensured through a timely and decisive response against internal and external threats. State stability was further strengthened due to a clear strategy, professionalism, and inter-agency coordination. Field Marshal Asim Munir’s emphasis on preparing for future wars, adapting to modern requirements, and adopting innovation is a clear sign that national security is not limited to the present but is being shaped by keeping in mind the challenges ahead. Under his leadership, defense thinking is not limited to weapons alone but extends to training, technology, intelligence, and institutional coordination. This is the strategy that gives confidence to the nation and sends a clear message to the enemy. At a time when the region is changing rapidly, this level of seriousness and practical insight is commendable. We value the national vision that unites state interest, public security, and the consolidation of peace, and express our conviction that strong leadership is the guarantee of a strong Pakistan. Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has said that the armed forces are committed to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and internal stability, while promoting discipline, excellence, and selfless national service. There is zero tolerance in the Pakistan Army for any threat to national security. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir made these remarks while addressing officers during a visit to Lahore Garrison. The Army Chief was given a comprehensive briefing on the operational and combat readiness of the formation, while he was also briefed on training exercises, modern technologies, and military facilities. He also reiterated the military’s resolve to respond to emerging challenges with professionalism and determination. General Asim Munir said that the Armed Forces are committed to protecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and internal stability of Pakistan, while promoting discipline and selfless national service. Commander Lahore welcomed the CDF and gave them a comprehensive briefing on the operational readiness, training standards, and key initiatives to enhance the combat effectiveness of the formation. Army Chief General Asim Munir observed a special field training exercise that showcased the latest technologies, which highlight the Army’s strength in innovation and adaptation in line with the dynamic battlefield of the future. He also inspected the sports and recreational facilities provided to the soldiers, and highlighted their importance in maintaining physical fitness, morale, and overall well-being. CDF Field Marshal Munir also visited a care center at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore and appreciated the efforts of the medical staff and administration in establishing a fully equipped, state-of-the-art medical facility. It is worth noting that these remarks by the CDF came after the military spokesperson said that Afghanistan has become a haven for terrorists and non-state actors. In a lengthy press conference, he spoke at length about the deteriorating relations with Afghanistan, the perceived aggression from India, as well as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Imran Khan, without naming them. Last month, the top leadership of the army had also warned political forces against harming national unity through protests or rhetoric, in addition to vowing to deal strictly with alleged Indian-sponsored proxies involved in terrorism. It may be recalled that ISPR DG Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry had said that 80 percent of terrorist incidents last year took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The reason for this is that a favorable political environment has to be provided to terrorists there. Regarding the operations of the security forces in 2025, he said that successful operations were carried out against terrorism last year. Last year, 75,175 intelligence-based operations were carried out in the country, of which 14,658 were carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 58,778 in Balochistan, and 1,739 in other areas. 2,597 terrorists were killed in 75,175 intelligence-based operations, 5,397 incidents of terrorism occurred across the country, in which 1,235 civilians and security personnel were martyred. A total of 27 suicide attacks occurred across the country last year, of which 16 were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; two of these suicide attacks were carried out by women. 80 percent of terrorism incidents occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to him, the reason for the high level of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the favorable environment available to terrorists there. The DG ISPR said that the stronghold of Fitna-ul-Kharij and Fitna of India is in Afghanistan. All terrorist organizations are in Afghanistan, and they are being nurtured. In October last year, there was tension on the Pak-Afghan border. Pakistan repeatedly explains to Afghanistan that it should handle the terrorists, but when that did not happen, Afghan posts were targeted within hours. He mentioned the ten major terrorist attacks in Pakistan in 2025 and said that all those who carried out these attacks were Afghan citizens. The video statements of the arrested Afghan citizens who confessed to the attacks in Pakistan were also played at the press conference. They said that we targeted the TTP and not the TTA in Afghanistan. We have all the evidence on who the terrorists are and where they are giving space to whom. Who is the main target? If you look at it, you can see 10 major incidents. The terrorists attacked civilians and soft targets. All these terrorist attacks were carried out by Afghans. The Pakistan Army spokesperson further said that the US had left modern military equipment worth $7.2 billion in Afghanistan. This included night vision devices, long-range sniper rifles, bulletproof jackets, protective equipment, M4 and M16 rifles. This equipment was available to the Afghan Taliban and reached various terrorist organizations through the black market. In Pakistan, in 2021, the ruling political party started facilitating terrorists internally and decided to negotiate with them, while a big game was being played in Afghanistan. This was a reference to the negotiations between the then-Pakistani government and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The DG ISPR had said that when you provide so much space and resources to terrorists, you see an increase in terrorist incidents. In 2023, the state started standing against them. Referring to the Army Chief’s speech after the blast at the Police Lines mosque in Peshawar in 2023, he said that a clear stance was given on terrorism on that occasion, and now this clarification is available throughout Pakistan. Speaking on this clarification, he had said in strong words that terrorists have nothing to do with religion, they must be eliminated, and action against them is inevitable. He had said that, however, this takes time, because to deal with terrorism, it is necessary to arm oneself, get trained, adopt the right technology, create a narrative, and take the nation along. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry had said that India is using terrorist groups as proxies in the region and is providing them with financial resources, weapons, and logistical support. The security agencies have solid evidence in this regard, and this process has become a serious threat to regional peace. Last year, the 10 major terrorist incidents included Bannu Cantt, Jafar Express, a civil bus in Nushki, a school bus in Khuzdar, Federal Constabulary and FC Headquarters Quetta, Police Training School DI Khan, Cadet College Wana, and Islamabad Judicial Complex. Afghan terrorists were found to be involved in all these incidents, while after strict measures on the Pak-Afghan border, a clear decrease in terrorist incidents was seen. Political parties and security forces have the same narrative in the war against terrorism; no one can fool us with the narrative of the war against terrorism. The entire nation and security forces are making sacrifices in the war against terrorism, and the government of a province says that we will not allow operations there, so do these people want to create a similar atmosphere of terrorism again, just as these terrorists martyred thousands of people in Swat? He said that this time the narrative of such people has also come out in the open; these people have the same old political narrative. If someone asks them two to three questions, they do not have any answers; they want to become the approved view of the Khawarij. DG ISPR said that the Chief Minister (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) is saying that Afghanistan should help us, he is saying that Kabul should guarantee our security, what kind of appeasement policy is this that you are asking Afghanistan to help us, the Chief Minister of KP is saying something ridiculous, the narrative of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also come out in the open, if there is no military operation, then should we sit at the feet of the Khawarij? Should the foreigner Noor Wali Masul be appointed as the Chief Minister of the province? Should he be sworn in, will Haibatullah tell what will happen in Charsadda? DG ISPR also played a clip of Asad Qaiser and Imran Khan’s tweets in the press conference and said, “Listen carefully. The army is an institution of the federal government. We have a constitutional mandate to protect the security of Pakistan. This does not give you permission to hand over your areas to terrorists for your politics.”He showed a statement by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi regarding tying dogs in mosques and said Why does this gentleman have ridiculous conversations, Because when there is no logic and argument, then such conversations have to be held that have no head, no feet, no front, no back. Giving the example of ANP, which was targeted by terrorists for opposing terrorism, the DG ISPR, without naming PTI, said that they say we are not ready to die, we will not stand, we will join them. He then raised the question, without naming PTI, why terrorists have never targeted this party. The Pakistan Army spokesperson said that there is no color or shade of a terrorist; we have no sympathy for any terrorist. One father of terrorism is the Afghan Taliban. We are on the right, and the right has to prevail; we are proud to fight the war against terrorism.
