ISLAMABAD Aug 8 (TNS): Lawyers across the country are observing black day today to mourn the August 8, 2016 Civil Hospital suicide bombing, which killed 73 people including 56 lawyers and left scores injured.

Pakistan Bar Council has appealed to observe black day on  the first anniversary of the tragedy, wherein the cream of Quetta’s lawyers’ community was wiped out.

Lawyers across the country are staying away from court proceedings and holding general body meetings to condemn the gory incident.

In Karachi, lawyers boycotted High court and lower courts proceeding and did not appear before the benches to argue cases.  Due to the strike litigants faced immense problems.

Balochistan High Court Bar Association (BHCBA) has announced a three-day lawyers’ strike to mark the first anniversary of the tragedy.

Awami National Party has called for a strike in various cities including Chaman, Ziarat, Zhob, Pishin and Musakhel in memory of those who lost their lives in the deadly bombing and to express solidarity with the families of the victims of the Civil Hospital attack.

Shops and markets remain closed today while educational institutes also are closed in observance of the strike.
