islamabad (TNS) TP launches crackdown on one-wheeling during Ramadan۔Following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police has initiated strict legal action against individuals involved in one wheeling and reckless behavior on roads during the holy month of Ramadan. In this regard, CTO Islamabad Hamzah Humayun stated that Ramadan is a blessed and sacred month during which citizens remain engaged in worship and religious obligations. It is unfortunate that certain miscreants, particularly during the times of Iftar and Taraweeh, perform one wheeling and dangerous stunts on highways and main roads, putting not only their own lives but also the lives of others at serious risk, while also disturbing citizens in their acts of worship. He further stated that despite repeated awareness campaigns, warnings, and legal actions, if such elements fail to refrain from these activities, it is clear they are unwilling to comply through advice alone. He specifically addressed parents, urging them to ensure proper supervision and upbringing of their children. Allowing youth to engage in such dangerous activities is deeply concerning, as the consequences can be extremely severe. The CTO Islamabad added that Islamabad Traffic Police has established special checkpoints at various locations across the city. So far, action has been taken against 17 individuals, and FIRs have been registered against them.He further emphasized that whether it is Seventh Avenue, Main Expressway, Bhara Kahu Bypass, Iran Avenue, or any other area of the city, strict action will be taken wherever complaints of one wheeling are received. It will be ensured that the motorcycles of those arrested will not be returned, FIRs will be registered against them, and they will remain in lockup or judicial custody until after Eid. Additionally, proceedings will be initiated for the permanent cancellation of their driving licenses.he CTO Islamabad stated that the ITP aims to maintain zero traffic accidents during Ramadan and prevent any fatal incidents. Dangerous trends like one wheeling can jeopardize this goal. Therefore, indiscriminate and strict action will continue. He appealed to parents to properly guide their children and prevent them from endangering their own and others lives. He also requested citizens to immediately report any incidents of one wheeling or reckless driving on the traffic police helpline 1915 and cooperate with law enforcement agencies so that together, Islamabad roads can be made safer.
