ISLAMABAD, August 11 (TNS): Minister of State for Information Maryam Aurangzeb has said that all institutions should uphold supremacy of law and the Constitution.

She was addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Friday to mark completion of seventy years of the Parliament.

Maryam Aurangzeb said the concept of respecting mandate of the people and the Constitution demands respect for the Parliament. She regretted that throughout the history of the country, the Parliament remained most insecure of the institutions.

She pointed out that the country achieved developmental goals, moved ahead in all spheres of life and its standing improved globally during the periods when democratic governments were in place.

She said it is the Parliament which gave right to information, right to education, right to due process and right to fair trial by amending the Constitution. The country made all round progress during the last four years, she added.
