QUETTA Aug.19 (TNS): As part of the ongoing political reconciliation in Baluchistan, 22 more suspected militants including a commander of the banned organization Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) surrendered before the security forces in a ceremony held at Frontier Corps (FC) Madadgar Headquarters in Quetta, the military’s media wing reported.

According to the statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the surrender was a part of the larger political reconciliation process in Baluchistan which has led to many militants surrendering recently.

Baluchistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti and other civilian and military officials were present on the occasion.

The largest province of the country by area is home to a low-level insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatists. Al Qaeda-linked militants also operate in the region. The province shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran.
