Islamabad. 20 Aug (TNS): Friends of a teenage boy, who died after being dared by them to ‘jump’ in the Jhelum River, have been arrested.
The 19 year old youth, namely Ali Abrar had arrived with his five friends at Kohala bridge from Gujarat. Abrar’s friends challenged him to swim through the stream. The youth had reportedly been promised Rs15,000 cash and a mobile phone in exchange for his stint.
Abrar eventually jumped to cross the river but was whisked away by the strong current of stream. A search for his body is underway despite passage of a day.
The footage of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Muzaffarabad Police have apprehended Abrar’s friends and registered a case against them on his father’s request.
