Earthquake jolts Islamabad, surrounding areas

Islamabad, August 27 (TNS): A 5.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas on Sunday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.

“The epicentre of the quake was some 67 km away from Mingora and occurred at a depth of 17km,” PMD said.

Tremors were also felt in Nowshera, Haripur and Swat, KP, AJK and Punjab areas as well.

People rushed out of their houses and offices in panic. However, no loss of life or damage to property was reported.
