Trader killed during armed robbery in Rawalpindi, fellow merchants stage protest

Rawalpindi, August 28 (TNS): A trader was shot dead for offering resistance during a robbery incident at his shop in Haideri Chowk locality here on Monday.

Reportedly, dacoits stormed into the carpet shop of Imran, held all the people present there at gunpoint and started looting.

As owner of the shop resisted, the dacoits opened fire, injuring him seriously. Later, the Imran succumbed to injuries at his shop.

The body of victim was shifted to hospital by fellow traders.

Police led by DSP New Town Malik Afsar reached the spot.

The traders, later on, staged protest against this dacoity incident by shutting down their shops.

They chanted anti-police slogans, and said that the police have miserably failed to protect the traders and control the rising dacoity and theft incidents against the local traders.

The protester, who blocked the roads at Haideri chowk by burning tyres, demanded early arrest of the outlaws.
