Rawal Town shootout, four cops being interrogated

Islamabad, August 30 (TNS): Four policemen have been arrested in connection with a suspect shot dead by cops at Rawal Town on Wednesday.

TNS has learnt that arrested policemen, identified as Qayyum Satti, Khalid, Mustajeeb and Javed, have been interrogated by Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officials at Shahzad Town Police Station.

Acting SSP Malik Matloob was recording statements of policemen involved in the shootout.

Top police officials including SP Investigation Zeeshan Haider, SP, CT Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, additional SP Ahsaan Ahmed, DSP Shahzad Town Idress Rathoor and SHO Shahzad Town were also presented on the occasion.

Interior minister Ahsan Iqbal taking notice of incident had sought immediate report from IGP Islamabad.

Sources told TNS that initial investigations suggested three suspects were present near Khokha (cabin-shop) at Rawal Chowk when ATS vehicles, patrolling in the area, reached there they started shouting “Chor Chor” (thieves) and open fire of police mobile.

Two of them fled in car (White Suzuki Mehran) while one suspect was arrested on the spot.

Police officials, who were chasing the car, instructed them to stop the car but they instead sped off. The police officer opened fire at car after their refusal to stop.

One suspect identified as Anayat was died on the spot from the injury while his companion sustained serious injuries.

The third suspect who was arrested from Rawal Town was identified as Ijaz Hussain and is being investigated.
