WASHINGTON Sept 8 (TNS): The United States has expressed deep concern over the crisis in Myanmar and urged authorities to allow humanitarian access to Rakhine state.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said there have been serious allegations of human rights abuses including mass burnings of Rohingya villages and violence conducted by security forces.

According to the UN, more than two hundred fifty thousand Rohingya Muslims have fled Myanmar into Bangladesh since violence erupted last October.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has also urged the global community to intervene to protect Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims.

Meanwhile, World Parliamentary Forum has expressed deep concern on the on-going violence in the Rakhine State of Myanmar.

The concern was shown at a joint declaration issued on the conclusion of the World Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development attended by Parliamentarians from 49 countries in Bali, Indonesia.

However, India refused to be part of the declaration.
