Pakistan, UK agree to strengthen trade, business linkages

Islamabad, Sept 18 (TNS): Pakistan and the United Kingdom have expressed commitment to strengthen trade and business linkages.

The commitment was made in a joint statement issued after talks between Minister of Commerce Pervaiz Malik and British Minister for Trade Policy, Greg Hands in Islamabad on Monday.

According to the statement, Britain will continue supporting Pakistan through the European Union’s trade preference scheme GSP+ as long as it is member of the EU.

In return, Pakistan side has also pledged to continue to make progress to improve human rights, labour rights, environment and good governance in line with the commitments made as part of the said scheme.

Greg Hands has expressed firm intention of his country to maintain smooth transition in trading arrangements on bilateral basis with Pakistan, even after leaving the EU.
