ATC court indict 57 in Mashal murder case

Haripur, Sept 19 (TNS): An Anti-Terrorism Court in Haripur on Tuesday indicted 57 people arrested for involvement in the lynching of Mashal Khan, the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) student who was beaten to death in April over blasphemy allegations.

The detained individuals were produced before ATC judge Fazle Subhan in Haripur Prison for a hearing on Tuesday.

The judge refused to accept bail applications of 17 of the accused and indicted 57 of accused persons. The trial is set to begin on Wednesday.

Mashal, a resident of Swabi and a student at Journalism and Mass Communication department at AKWUM was shot dead after brutally beaten up and his body desecrated in broad daylight by his fellow students on campus on April 13 after being accused of blasphemy.
