Govt working for Monitoring Network and Early Warning System: Senate told

Islamabad, Sept. 20 (TNS): The Senate was informed on Wednesday that the government has approved proposal of Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) for strengthening of Monitoring Network and Early Warning System.

Replying to a question during question Hour, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab informed the House that objective of the proposal is to improve the density of monitoring network of PMD.

He said that five Regional Meteorological Centers of PMD located at Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Gilgit-Baltistan have been set up for provision of climate services throughout the country.

Minister for Law Zahid Hamid has said use of Swiss soil by terrorists for nefarious designs against Pakistan is totally unacceptable.

He was speaking on a point of national importance regarding display of anti-Pakistan posters in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Minister said the posters were put on display by banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army that is a listed terrorist organization and proscribed in Pakistan, United Kingdom and a number of other countries.

He said allowing the display of posters by Swiss government in the name of freedom of expression is a serious violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity and United Nations Law and Charter.
