Islamabad, Sept 21 (TNS): The Senate was informed on Thursday that power generation has reached twenty thousand megawatts in the country due to effective measures taken by the government.
Replying to a query during question hour, Minister of State for Power Abid Sher Ali informed the House that in the coming few months power generation will reach twenty-five thousand megawatt. He said power loadshedding will be completely overcome by December this year.
To a question, Abid Sher Ali informed the House that work is underway on 870 megawatt Suki Kinari Hydro-Power Project in district Mansehra under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said the project will be completed at a cost of 1800 million dollars and it will start power generation by the end of 2022.
Answering a question, Minister of Law Zahid Hamid informed the House that National Accountability Bureau has given advertisements worth 54.89 million rupees in print and electronic media during the last four years.
He said 31.90 million rupees were incurred by NAB on workshops, seminars and awareness campaign during the same period.
Replying to a question, Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani informed the House that a summary has been submitted to the Prime Minister through Finance Division for 70 per cent increase in rental ceiling of the government employees.

The House today discussed the Federal Public Service Commission’s annual report for 2015.
Taking part in the discussion the members proposed different reforms in FPSC.
The house decided to constitute an eight member committee to propose reforms for Federal Public Service Commission. Four members each from the treasury and opposition benches will be included in the committee.
Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani today announced to suspend “Pakistan-Switzerland Friendship Group of Senate” in response to failure of the Swiss government to fulfil international obligations of friendship.
Speaking during the Senate session, he said the government of Switzerland has failed to stop the display of anti-Pakistan posters in Geneva; and according to reports, more posters have been put on display.
He said according to the United Nations charter, it is responsibility of all the member countries to follow the policy of non-interference in the internal and external affairs of other states and not to support or abet terrorism from the state against the other states.
He said the activities of the Friendship Group will remain suspended till the decision of the House in this regard accordingly.
Speaking on the occasion, the members strongly condemned the display of anti-Pakistan posters in Geneva. They said allowing the display of posters by Swiss government is tantamount to attack on the stability of Pakistan.
The House has now been adjourned to meet again tomorrow at 10.00 a.m.
