SIALKOT Sept 22 (TNS): Director General of Pakistan Rangers, Punjab Major General Azhar Naveed Hayat on Friday visited the areas which were affected by the Indian shelling from across the Working Boundary near Sialkot yesterday that left six people dead and over two dozens injured.
Gen. Azhar Naveed Hayat visited Harpal and four other sectors along the Working Boundary and interacted with the troops stationed there, according to a statement of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Speaking on the occasion, he said the forces have befittingly responded to the Indian shelling from across the border and reiterated that every aggression by the Indian forces would be responded in the strong and matching way.
A day before, Indian troop resorted to shelling, targeting civilian population on the Pakistan side of the Working Boundary. As a result, six people were killed and over two dozen other injured, according to the ISPR statement.
The skirmishes and heavy exchanges of fire between the two rival armies have become a norm despite a truce agreement signed in November 2003 with Indian troops resorting to regular firing and shelling without any provocation targeting civilian population, particularly after the attack on Indian army base in Uri by suspected militants.
