KARACHI Sept 25 (TNS): Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said: “We want to work together with Sindh Government and it was the duty of the Chief Minister Sindh to sit with us for solving city problems.

“Presently topmost issue in Karachi relates to sewerage system for which KWSB officials will be contacted.

“People should know how much money was received for such works. Funds amounting to Rs14 billion rupees and not 8billion were released in 2016-17 but these were handed over to the former administrator and also included payment for salaries, pensions of staff and non-development expenditure whereas 4billion rupees were earmarked for development works.

“The schemes which were made by former administrators are now being completed by us and the current year budget was also prepared by us in which citizen’s schemes have also been incorporated and their priorities were taken into account. Development works will continue despite limited resources.”

He expressed these views on a visit of district central along with MQM Pakistan Chief Dr. Farooq Sattar to check and review the road carpeting and other uplift works in Hussainabad area.
