LAHORE Oct 4 (TNS): After being forced to play at neutral zones due to security fears, Pakistan has finally received the nod from International Tennis Federation to host its first Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group I tennis tie in twelve years.
This will be the second time Pakistan will compete in Group One Tie against South Korea.
“International Tennis Federation has allotted the Davis Cup tie to Pakistan which will be played on the grass courts of the Pakistan Sports Complex,” said PTF Secretary Sanaullah Aman. He said that a committee has been formed to look into the matters of the tie.
This is the sixth time that the Pakistani team has made it to the Asia Oceania Group One. The tie between Pakistan and South Korea will be held in Islamabad Sports Complex from 2 to 4 February 2018.
Pakistani team has bright chances of winning the tie on grass courts, while we’re not likely to win on hard courts.
Sanaullah, secretary of Pakistan Tennis Federation, said Pakistan’s situation is far better than ever and this has been acknowledged by the ITF as well.
Pakistan will host the Asia Oceania Group One Tie and South Korea, having an excellent International Davis Cup record will stand against Pakistan.
