IB lodged FIR against unknown persons for issuing fake memo

ISLAMABAD, Oct 7 (TNS): Intelligence Bureau (IB) on Friday lodged an FIR against unknown persons for issuing a fake memo which claimed there were links between 37 parliamentarians and proscribed organizations.

The case was filed in Islamabad’s Secretariat police station.

IB, the complainant, stated that unknown persons used Bureau’s fake letterhead and published fake memo, shown on a private TV channel, it was stated that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had directed the authority to monitor the activities of 37 legislators due to their alleged links with banned terrorist and sectarian outfits.

IB stated that the memo shown on private news channel and being circulated on social media was fake, further adding that after a thorough investigation a case has been filed against those involved in drafting the fake memo and leaking it to the media.

The issue was first raised by Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada at the recently held cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

The list named a number of key ministers, including Riaz Pirzada, Zahid Hamid, Baleeghur Rehman, Sikandar Bosan, Hafiz Abdul Kareem and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi.
