PFA busts gang extracting oil from dead remains of animals, bones

RAWALPINDI, Oct 09 (TNS): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) busted a gang involved in extracting oil from dead remains of animals, bones and recovered 170 maunds of bones. The Authority also sealed a factory involved in business of the extracted oil in Gujranwala and arrested two culprits.

Director Operations PFA North, Bilal Abro said that a team of the authority chased a bones laden vehicle and arrested gang involved in extraction of oil from dead remains of animals and bones. 170 maunds (6800kg) bones were recovered from the vehicle.

The detainees had established a unit in village Jalala of Hassanabdal where the oil was extracted from bones and dead remains of animals.

The extracted oil was blended in the pure cooking oil and supplied in the market.

The nabbed culprits used to collect bones and dead remain of animals from Rawalpindi, Attock, Taxila and surrounding areas and transport them to the said factory.

Meanwhile, according to Director Operations Bilal Abro, the PFA sealed a factory in Gujranwala for involvement in business of oil extracted from dead remains of animals, bones and arrested the owner Irshad Ali and his driver Ghulam Muhammad who were being interrogated.
