LAHORE Oct 17 (TNS): The Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) is staging a protest at Lahore’s Thokar Niaz Baig on second day (Tuesday) amid announcement to march towards Punjab assembly.

The farmers have blocked the Multan Road from both sides affecting the flow of traffic. Long queues of vehicles were reported that added to the miseries of people.

Hundreds of farmers held a protest march toward the provincial metropolis from southern Punjab districts on late Monday demanding the release of their pending amounts worth 30 billion from sugar mills owners and subsidy on different agriculture items.

The farmers’ rally, however, was not allowed to enter the city as police placed containers at the Multan Road near Thokar Niaz Baig and blocked the road.

The roadblocks were removed today as the angry protesters hurled on them with sticks. The protesters have said that they will not end their protest until fulfillment of demands.
