ISLAMABAD Oct 20(TNS): As expansion of Embassy-Road is underway in heart of Islamabad, nearby work continued on removing obstacles in the path of this progress: hundreds of trees.
The trees which stand to be affected by the project include Paper Mulberry and Eucalyptus trees.
Moreover, scores of inhabitant birds are also expected to be affected by this mass chopping of trees. Mean while Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Thursday took strict notice of cutting of trees at the Embassy Road, and directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to submit report on the same day.
CDA officials submitted report on the issue and briefed the Minister about the urgent need to expand the Embassy Road and the measures taken to mitigate the environmental impact, a news release said here.
The project director said that the increasing number of vehicles using Embassy Road in the past few years created severe problem to commuters as long queues of vehicles are seen on the road. In order to ease the pressure of traffic, expansion of Embassy Road was inevitable.
