DUBAI, Oct 20 (TNS): The upcoming Expo Pakistan is expected to witness business transactions worth $1 billion including major agreements among local and foreign investors, Arab media reported on Friday.
This was stated by Javed Hassan, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai during his address to the presidents and representatives of Dubai-based Business Councils recently in Dubai.
The event will be held in Karachi from November 9-12.
He noted that the 4-day mega event in Karachi is one of the biggest trade shows being organised by the government to provide a platform for local manufacturers including auto parts, textile, machinery, food and fresh produce packaging as well as service industry.
“We are encouraging business bodies in the UAE to take part in the 10th edition of Expo Pakistan in order to meet the industry leaders of the country,” he added.
Hassan mentioned that they are expecting $1 billion transactions at the event adding, that the government has been extending all support to facilitate foreign investors in order to benefit from the lucrative market of Pakistan.
He also lauded the efforts of Pakistan Business Council holding networking meetings with the representatives of other countries to promote Expo Pakistan.
“The Pakistan mission in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are ready to facilitate prospect visitors to provide easy visa process and fully integrated support in Karachi to attend the Expo with maximum relief,” he concluded.
The gathering was attended by representatives of 15 Business Councils including Australia, Bangladesh, Czech Republic, Italy, Jordan, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Syria and the USA. Officials from the Pakistan mission were also present to interact with the business representatives.
Ahmed Sheikhani, President, Pakistan Business Council in his welcome address mentioned that they are attending the Expo Pakistan for several years.
He noted that using the PBC’s platform they are encouraging members of the Business Councils of the other countries to benefit from the lucrative offers from Pakistani manufacturers for their local and export demands.

“The PBC will hold such other meetings for local partners as well as assures all its support for delegates to attend the Expo Pakistan,” he added.

While briefing on Expo, Dr Nasir Khan, Commercial Councilor at Pakistan Consulate, Dubai said that they have devised a whole mechanism to ease the visa process for business travelers while hospitality packages also planned to facilitate the prospects.
“So far 18 local businesses are confirmed to participate in the 4-day show while two government departments are also attending the event to meet Pakistani traders,” he said.
The officials while responding question from the guests said that such meetings with foreign businesses are being held in different countries around the world and they are expecting 40 UAE business to participate in the Expo Pakistan.
