SIBI Oct 21 (TNS): A levies man was killed on Saturday morning in an armed attack on a check post in a neighborhood of Sibi district in Balochistan province.

Security officials said unknown assailants opened fire at the check post near Sibi’s Mill Chowk area and fled from the scene. As a result, the personnel received serious bullet injures and died on the spot, they added.

The dead body was transferred to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Subsequently, a contingent of security forces arrived at the spot and cordoned it off for security purposes. They also launched a search operation in the adjoining areas to look for culprits.

Earlier this week, at least seven policemen were martyred and 22 others injured in a ‘suspected’ car bombing on Sibi Road within the jurisdiction of Sariab Road police station of Balochistan’s capital city Quetta.

In another incident of violence in the capital city on Wednesday, a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) inspector was gunned down by unknown armed assailants on Qambrani Road. The deceased has been identified Abdul Salam.
