ISLAMABAD Nov 02 (TNS): Pakistan desires international community to play its role in resolving the Kashmir conflict, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.

Speaking in a weekly press conference, the FO spokesperson said that Pakistan has always taken initiative in view of resolving the conflict, it is India which has never responded positively on Pakistan’s call to resolve Kashmir conflict.

The spokesperson said that there are three parties to the conflict: Pakistan, India and Kashmir.

The FO confirmed that Pakistan’s High Commissioner in New Delhi Sohail Mehmood had a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, however, he reiterated that during the meeting, the issue of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s visa was not discussed.

In the October meeting, Swaraj discussed the current state of affairs in bilateral relations with Mahmood, who officially took charge as Pakistan’s envoy to India last month.

She is believed to have asked Pakistan to review its position on Jadhav, the ‘RAW’ agent who was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court earlier this year.

The Indian minister said that for any progress in bilateral relations Pakistan must drop all charges against Jadhav and send him back to India, media reports said.

Jadhav’s case is currently being heard by the International Court of Justice which earlier this year stayed his death sentence.
