London, Nov. 16 (TNS): A 14-year-old girl died after being electrocuted in her sleep by her faulty iPhone charging cable in Vietnam, according to British media.
Police said the teenager, identified as Le Thi Xoan, had reportedly rolled over onto the torn cable, and as a result got exposed to the live wire, The Mail Online reported on Thursday.
Xoan was found unconscious by her parents with the white device by her side in the Vietnamese region of Ha Tinh. She was rushed to a local hospital, however, could not survive.
Police believe that a slight tear in the rubber casing may have revealed the live wires inside.
The charging cable is being inspected but the investigator said they were yet to determine whether it was the original Apple wire or a third-party device.
It appeared to be shorter than Apple’s original 20-inch charging cable in a picture showing the burnt cable.
