CJP takes suo motu notice of Turbat killings

ISLAMABAD Nov 19 (TNS): Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo motu notice on Turbat incident in which 20 bodies were recovered over a span of around four days.

The CJP has sought detailed reports within three days from the director general of Federal Investigation Agency and the inspector general of Balochistan on the incident. He has also questioned the role authorities concerned have decided to play in preventing such incidents from happening in future.

On15th November, 15 bodies were found in Buleda area of Turbat tehsil in Kech district of Balochistan. The bodies bore bullet wounds and were of people from different parts of Punjab, including Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat and Sialkot. It was found out the 15 people were en route to Europe through Iran for jobs. They were being taken for by an agent, whom they had paid for their illegal migration.

Later, on the night of November 17, five more bodies were found in the same tehsil, Turbat, albeit at the distance from the previous spot. The five bodies were found from Tajban area of Turbat, closer to Panjgur.

Documents found with the deceased revealed the five people were friends belonging to Gujrat in Punjab. Balochsitan government spokesperson Anwar-ul-Haq had said their assessment showed the five were killed in the same incident in which the 15 were shot dead. He added their bodies were found in an operation that was launched in the area after the first 15 bodies were recovered.
