ISLAMABAD, Nov. 21 (TNS): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) yet again failed to submit their response on foreign funding case to the Election Commission on Pakistan (ECP).

A four-member bench of the ECP hearing the case was told that the party will submit its response in the next hearing.

The foreign funding case was filed by Akbar S Babar, a founding PTI member, in November 2014 after he developed differences with party chairman Imran Khan over alleged corruption within the party and violation of laws in collection and use of party funds.

“We will submit the reply after Islamabad High Court (IHC)’s hearing scheduled for December 5,” PTI lawyer told the commission.

Perturbed over PTI’s ‘delaying tactics’, the petitioner said the case has been pending for three years now and the leadership is trying to evade the investigation.

He told the media that the ECP was due to scrutinize the documents submitted by PTI but the party’s senior lawyer did not show up again.

The commission has adjourned the hearing till December 12 and also summoned PTI’s finance secretary in the next hearing.

In September, the ECP had reserved its judgment in this case while saying that time was being wasted for four years in the party’s foreign funding case.
