Sindh home minister for installation of tracker system in bikes

KARACHI Nov 29 (TNS): Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal has underlined installation of tracker system in motor bikes as a counter terrorism strategy.

“Since bikes are used in 80 percent of crimes, there is an intense need to make installation of tracker system in bikes mandatory,” he said while speaking during the meeting with Site Association of Industry members.

He was of the view that most of the crimes are committed with the help of motorcycles; therefore, the Government is considering tracking system for motorcycles.

He assured them of providing full protection to the industrial units under Safe City Project through CCTV monitoring system.

Citing horrific criminal incidents of knife-wielding man and Ansarul Sharia that were carried out on motorcycles, Siyal said Excise Department would be directed to install number plates on front of motor bikes also.

The home minister apprised the meeting that steps were afoot to outsource hotline 15.

Expressing satisfaction over depletion of crimes graph, he said “Earlier, heinous crimes like kidnapping for ransom were rampant and now only street crime incidents take place and that too have slumped lately.” He said measures were being taken to improve law and order situation in SITE area and shortage of number of policemen would also be resolved.

Expressing apprehensions over wall-chalking, Siyal said graffiti and use of loudspeakers were banned under the National Action Plan. “Graffiti is being inscribed on walls during the night. Strict action would be taken against those doing wall-chalking to deface the city,” he said.

The Home Minister said that the Government of Sindh is striving to maintain law & order in the province particularly in Karachi.  He stressed the need to help the Police to fight against crime and corruption.

Home Minister, Sindh assured the office bearers of SITE Association of Industry that all their demands will be fulfilled after due process.

Association’s President, Muhammad Jawed Bilwani gave a detailed briefing about the overall security and law & order situation in the SITE Industrial Estate.  Bilwani stressed the need for establishment of Police Helpline ‘15’ Cell at the Office of SITE Association of Industry.  He also demanded access to CCTV Cameras for CPLC & SSP West Karachi for immediate arrest of the criminals.

Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, President, SITE Association of Industry also demanded increase in the number of Police Staff at SITE Police Stations “A” & “B” as well as the posting of young & active police personnel at both the SITE Police Stations.

Similarly, Mr. Bilwani, also asked the Sindh Home Minister for provision of more Police Mobile Vans and motorcycles for SITE Police Stations.  Citing the example of KPK Police Stations, Mr. Bilwani further asked the Home Minister to set up Model Police Stations in SITE Industrial Estate.

Sindh Home Minister was accompanied by Qazi Shahid Pervez, Home Secretary, Zulfiqar Larek, DIG, West, Karachi, Younus Chandio, SSP West Operation, Malik Zafar, SSP Traffic West. SITE Association of Industry was represented by Siraj Kassam Teli, Patrn-in-Chief, Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, and former Chairman, Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, President and other senior members of the Association.
