Islamabad, Nov. 29 (TNS): Lashing out at current government for its incompetency, PTI chairman Imran Khan has said had the military not ‘intervened’ in the Faizabad sit-in which could have been tuned into uncontrollable chaos.

“When the chaos broke, all PML-N leaders went into hiding, while Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal continued to play an irresponsible role to defuse the crisis,” Imran told reporters in Islamabad on Wednesday.

“Whoever is responsible for the amendment should be brought to the fore and taken to task.”

The PTI chief reiterated his demand for an early election in the country. “There is only one democratic way to deal with the current crisis, and that is early election.”

“Early election wouldn’t cause any harm to democracy, in fact, it would strengthen the same,” he maintained.

Criticising his arch-rival Nawaz Sharif, Imran said the former PM was falsely citing Iqama as the sole reason of his ouster, saying Iqama was used to set up an offshore company, which led to money laundering.

“The entire government has been making efforts to restore a disqualified prime minister,” he added.
