CM Punjab’s Motorbike Ambulance Service, first of its kind in South Asia extended to Gujranwala

LAHORE, Dec 02 (TNS): In another step ahead to serve the people Punjab Gov’t under dynamic Shahbaz Sharif has extended its motorcycle ambulance service to Gujranwala with 100 Motorbikes to provide timely emergency medical services to helpless victims of accidents.

In addition to the conventional and advanced ambulance service of Punjab’s emergency service, Rescue 1122, hundreds of motorcycle ambulances will provide quick medical service to the needy people of densely populated areas where access of vehicles due to narrow streets is almost impossible.

The idea derived from the UK, Turkey and Japan based models and meterialised by Pak Turkey cooperation the service was launched in October this year by Chief Minister of Punjab Mr shahbaz Sharif during a ceremony held at ambulance center Lahore.

The respondents, with master trainers trained on modern lines in Turkey, will have first-aid kits and will have medical knowledge. If needed, they will call ambulances nearby so they can meet up.

The new ambulance service comprises 900 motorbikes equipped with all essential medical accessories while 900 medical technicians have been inducted for the motorbike ambulance service. It will be available in all 36 districts of nine divisions of the province.

In first phase three hundred motorbike ambulances have been provided in Lahore division while the hundred each have been allocated Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad divisions and fifty each in Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha and Sahiwal divisions.

The service, according to CM, will be extended to every city of the province.

The service first of its kind in South Asia is another feather in the cap of medical emergency services.
