UN adopts Pak sponsored resolution on interreligious dialogue

WASHINGTON Dec 12 (TNS): The UN General Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution on promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue to advance the culture of peace and non-violence in the world.

Sponsored by Pakistan and the Philippines, the resolution reaffirmed the solemn commitment of all States to fulfill their obligations in accordance with the United Nations Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi welcomed the adoption of the resolution by consensus.

In an interview, she said it reflected the international community’s support to Pakistan’s efforts to combat extremism, bigotry and prejudice.
