ISLAMABAD, Dec 16 (TNS): Today again, Pakistan is a nation united in remembering the innocent martyrs of Peshawar School, the most gruesome and brutal terrorist attack in its history. No one of this Nation can ever forget that fateful morning of Tue 16 Dec 2014 when a group of terrorists stormed Army Public School Peshawar, initiating a killing spree that claimed at least 141 lives. Nearly all of the victims were students of varying ages — in addition to 132 students, nine teachers and staff members were among the victims. The heart less, merciless attackers took no hostages and instead sought to kill indiscriminately. Following a nearly nine-hour siege, Pakistani forces were able to subdue all seven attackers, but tragedy had already unfurled.

The blood soaked books of innocent martyrs and that Auditorium which turned out to be the killing field of smiling innocent faces who had been there knitting their dreams of future were silenced forever.

Although that attack has struck deep at the nation’s core but it proved to be the turning point as well as it intensified national unity in the ongoing struggle against terrorism. The Pakistani military immediately after the attack launched an offensive to root out and eliminate militants seeking refuge in the country’s mountainous regions or in the interiors. More than 80% menace of terrorism has been eliminated from the country and the resolve to defeat it completely has never been lowered as everyone from a uniformed man to a layman is united against it.

On the day when we remember the innocent martyrs, we reaffirm our promise that we won’t forget u and thousands of others who also fall prey to the same menace of terrorism as we won’t relent until the death of death sellers.
