ISLAMABAD Dec 28 (TNS): Federal Minister for Privatization Daniyal Aziz roared at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for reviving dead cases against the party leader Nawaz Sharif.
He regretted reopening of Raiwind Road case by NAB. He criticized the Bureau for reopening dead cases against ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the said that the projects were meant for the public good.
Addressing the media outside the residence of Nawaz Sharif in Lahore, he said teams of the NAB went to London to elicit the evidences against his leader; but, they failed.
Leveling accusation against the NAB team, he further said the team enjoyed feasts with Sheikh Rashid and the people of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
He addressed a press conference on Thursday, and pointed out that the Raiwind Road project being investigated by NAB was a development scheme for the people of Raiwind rather than Nawaz’s private scheme.
The only objective behind opening the closed cases is to politically victimize the leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
Aziz was referring to the cases including construction of road by former PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and former Federal Information Minister Firdous Aishaq Awan, which he maintained were investigated and closed.
“Some of the cases being opened by the bureau were already closed with no one found guilty,” he said, and added, “It indicates the PLM-N leadership is being victimized.”
NAB is discriminating against our party and they are defaming the party leadership before the next general elections, Aziz said.
Aziz while defending the Nawaz said his leader had been facing corruption charges and appearing before the courts but so far not a single case of corruption has been proven against him. Echoing Nawaz’s words, Aziz said Nawaz was disqualified for not taking salary from his son, whereas they are very lenient in the cases of Imran Khan and other PTI leaders.
He said although Nawaz’s name was not included in Panama Leaks, but even then he was punished for keeping Iqama. He argued that only fake cases are being made against Nawaz which should be stopped.
Replying to a question about the campaign for justice being launched by Nawaz Sharif, he clarified that it is not against any one, it is just for the promotion of justice.
