ROME Dec 29 (TNS): Newly-weds Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are off to South Africa for India’s upcoming Test series, after tying the knot earlier this month in a private ceremony in Italy.

The Indian skipper had opted out of the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka to get married to the Bollywood actor. Before leaving for South Africa, he was asked in a press conference how it feels to be back to cricket post the marriage celebrations.

“Not difficult at all, I was away for something (marriage) which is much more important. That is a period that will always remain special for both of us,” said Kohli.

The 29-year-old batsman said cricket runs in his blood. “Switching back to cricket is not difficult at all because it is in my blood, like it is for every other team member and the team management as well, so getting back to professional front is not difficult at all.”

Despite a whirlwind month of wedding celebrations, Kohli said he continued to prepare for the upcoming Test series.

“I haven’t done anything in the past three weeks. I have been training to get back to play in South Africa. Somewhere in your head you are always thinking about you have something important coming up, so subconsciously you are looking forward to it (South Africa tour). So, mentally I am very well prepared.”

The high-profile couple hosted receptions in New Delhi and Mumbai, which were attended by their family and friends from both cricket and Bollywood.
