Lahore, Jan. 5 (TNS): A case was registered on Friday against Dolphin Force, a specialised force meant to combat street crime, for harassing female staffers of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in Lahore.

The first information report (FIR) was lodged by the PFA’s Safety Officer Saima Ikram at the Saddar Police Station.

According to draft of the FIR, armed men along with some ‘fake journalists’ and Dolphin Force officials had recently stopped a vehicle of the provincial food authority and threatened its female staffers, who were travelling in it. They even tried to enter the vehicle forcefully, claimed the complainant.

Punjab’s Dolphin Force was established with the help of Turkey in 2016.

It was modelled on the Turkish National Force to patrol congested streets and roads.

The Punjab government has spent billions of rupees to enhance the force’s capabilities and has provided modern equipment to the specialised police unit so that they could improve the law and order situation in the province.
