KARACHI, Jan 13 (TNS): The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar directed the judges of supreme and high courts to decided the cases in 90 days and the districts judges are restricted to wrap up the cases in 30 days.
“I request, order the judges to decide all three months long pending cases in just a month and all the supreme and high courts ordered to decide the cases in 90 days,” Chief Justice said while Addressing to judges in Karachi.
He mentioned that judiciary was criticized for its old system and stressed for reforms, however making reforms in the system was the onus of the parliament and judiciary responsibility was to implement it.Highlighting the burden on judiciary he explained that hundreds of thousand cases pending in high courts while hundreds of cases come under a civil judges, in such a heavy burden situation the provision of justice in time a difficult task.
Taking the notice of people complaints regarding pending of cases CJ said, ” I’m giving 15 days to all judges to bring own house in order and despite all barriers make sure provision of justice in order and wrap up of three months long pending cases in a month.”
He admitted the judiciary system has become obsolete and even in 2018 judiciary was working under the same system that need instant reform so that people could be provided justice at their doorstep. Earlier, Talking to a gathering, Justice Nisar said that the judiciary is often blamed for delay in cases but there is more to the issue.
Judges, whether of the apex court of lower courts, have a lot of cases pending before them, which makes it extremely difficult to resolve them on time.
He added that provision of inexpensive justice to the people is necessary.
Speaking about judicial reforms, Justice Nisar said that judiciary in Punjab has seen the best reforms in the country, and has used technology and better organisation to reduce the frequency of pending cases.
