President, PM, others express deep grief over sad demise of Munnu Bhai

ISLAMABAD Jan 19 (TNS): Funeral prayer of renowned journalist, columnist, poet and writer Munnu Bhai who passed away in Lahore this morning will be offered in Riwaz Garden, Lahore after Asr prayer. He will be laid to rest in Miani Sahib cemetery.

President Mamnoon Hussain has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of renowned journalist, columnist, poet and writer Munnu Bhai.

He prayed for the departed soul and commiserated with the bereaved family. The President said that his services in the field of literature and journalism will always be remembered.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of veteran columnist Munnu Bhai.

According to an official statement, the Prime Minister lauded the role of Munnu Bhai in highlighting social issues, concern for differently abled persons and praised his standards of humanity throughout his life.

The Prime Minister prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and to grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister’s Advisor on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqi has also extended his heart felt condolence and commiserated with the bereaved family. He appreciated services of Munnu Bhai for literature and journalism.

The Speaker and Deputy speaker of National Assembly also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Munnu Bhai.

Munno Bhai was born in Wazirabad on February 6, 1933. He was affiliated with journalism for more than 25 years. He also wrote dramas for Pakistan Television, his most famous being ‘Sohna Chandni’ which will always be remembered by his fans.

In 2007, he was given Pride of Performance award by the state of Pakistan.

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed his condolence following news of Munno Bhai’s demise.
