NACTA, MoI start consultation sessions to formulate NISP 2018-2023

ISLAMABAD Jan 19 (TNS): National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, organized a three-day consultative session to deliberate upon roadmap for framing the National Internal Security Policy (NISP) 2018-2023.

The consultations were held on January 16th to 18th, 2018 at NACTA headquarters, Islamabad.

First session was attended by political leadership and religious scholars, the second day marked discussions with prominent members of civil society, media, analysts and academicians. The final day session was held with experts from across Pakistan.

These consultative sessions are to be followed by key interviews with relevant stakeholders culminating in a national level internal security conference where all participants of the process will sit together to review efforts to date.

National Coordinator NACTA, Mr. Ihsan Ghani, presided over the consultations on all three days while the moderators for the discussions were selected on ad-hoc basis from amongst the sitting participants.

The attending participants included many notable persons such as I.A. Rahman, Imtiaz Gul, Rasool Bukhsh Raees, Mossarat Qadeem, Adnan Rafiq, Mohsin Ali Turk, Anita Turab, Saleem Safi, Dilawar Khan, Rahim Ullah Yousafzai, Syed Aizaz and Professor Ahmed Qadri, among other prominent scholars and academicians.

Distinguished guests from amongst the experts included Tariq Parvez, Tariq Khosa, Jalil Abbas Gillani, Afzal Ali Shigri, Dr. Asif Tufail, Anwar Ali, Col Huzaifa Hashmi and Mohammad Ali Babakhel to name a few.

It concluded with several significant recommendations proposed for the formulation of the upcoming NISP 2018-2023.
