ISLAMABAD Jan 24 (TNS): International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has offered 10 fully funded scholarships for the Niger students in the faculty of Usulddin (Islamic Studies).
The development came in the meeting between IIUI Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and Charge d’ affaires K.K Ahsan Wagan of Pakistan to Niger.
It was agreed in the meeting that IIUI would provide training to Islamic scholars, Aima and legal fraternity hailing from Niger in three month long programs at Dawah and Shariah academies in Islamic orientation programs.
IIUI Rector said that cooperation with Niger would open a gateway for IIUI to disseminate Islam’s message of peace and harmony across the African countries. He assured during the meeting that IIUI would be happy to assist the Niger female students as well in its separate campus under Pakistan Technical Assistance Program( PATP).
IIUI Rector said on the occasion that educational institutions would have to play role in dealing with the challenges of hour and IIUI was working on the same lines. “ announcement, issuance and launch of Paigham e Pakistan through IIUI, a decree against the suicide bombings and insurgency against state by over 18oo muftis and scholars was an example that how educational institutions can help societies in solving issues” said IIUI Rector. He furthered that Islam had nothing to do with terrorism, while it was religion of love and peace.
During the meeting , matters pertaining to have MoUs between IIUI and educational institutions of Niger also came under discussion and it was discussed that women empowerment, exchange of delegations and faculty members and cooperation in other aspects of education will be perused in future.
Establishment of Pak-African forum was also part of the discussion under which it was mulled that unexplored fields of bilateral cooperation between African countries and Pakistan will be explored, while initiative for an introductory seminar in this regard also came under discussion.
Pakistan’s Charge d’ affaires hailed IIUI for its services to Muslim world and said that the university can help Niger to deal with the issue of illiteracy and empowerment of women as it has separate campus for women with a composed vision. He said that IIUI’s offer of cooperation to Niger students through PATP was a laudable development.
