Urge NAB Chairman to take action against the land mafia and corrupt NAB officials trying to grab control of the society

Appeal to bring to accountability the corrupt officials of the NAB damaging the credibility of the organization and not to allow them to dent the image of the institution, which the honorable NAB Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal himself heads

ISLAMABAD Jan 25 (TNS): The members of the Etihad group that obtained maximum votes in the recently held election of the Ministry of Commerce Employees’ Cooperative Housing Society (MOCECHS) have vowed to stage protest rally/hunger strike outside the headquarters of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) until an action is taken against the land mafia, which in collaboration with some corrupt high-ranking NAB officials, is trying to grab the control of the society.

In a letter to the NAB Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal they named Nasir Iqbal Mirza DG Rawalpindi, Malik Shakeel Anjum DGHR, Muhammad Qasim Khan Assistant Director and others who with ulterior motive to take control of the society fielded Amir Shah (the head of land mafia), Tariq Butt, Muhammad Azam called ‘Billa’ as candidates in the election under the banner of Qaim Inqilab Group, which was actually formed by the above-mentioned officials. But all their plans fell flat as Etihad Group gained a landslide victory in the election.

On suffering defeat at the hands of Etihad Group, the Qaim Inqilab Group started creating obstacles for the Etihad Group so as to stop it from working for the well-being of the members of the society whose number is well over 7000.

They also tried to pressurize the Registrar Cooperative Society and well before the holding of election had also tried to get rejected the papers of the election candidates of the Etihad Group. Moreover, they kept them in illegal confinement for hours at their office and pressurized them in order to withdraw from the election. Further, ICT Election Commission Administrator, Deputy Registrar were also pressurized to postpone the election.  After the election, ICT Registrar office was pressurized not to issue the election result notification.

In the letter the  members the Ministry of Commerce Employees’ Cooperative Housing Society (MOCECHS) have also requested him to reopen the frozen public accounts of the members of the society so that the winning Etihad group can continue work for the welfare of the members of the society. Let it be noted here that the accounts of the society were also frozen in 1916, which later with the permission of the NAB were opened after five months on 21st  January, 2016.

The letter addressed to the NAB Chairman says that the opponents of Etihad Group were completely wiped out in the said election as Etihad Group got more than 90% votes which reflected the confidence of the members of the society in Etihad group’s Rana Gulam Farid and his team.

The letter appealed to the NAB Chairman to bring to accountability the corrupt officials of the NAB who are damaging the credibility of the organization and not to allow them to dent the image of the institution headed by the honorable NAB Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal.
