MOSCOW Jan 27 (TNS): Russia has denied re-exporting North Korean coal by saying that it abide by the norms of international law.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov talking to reporters at a conference in Moscow said that Russia is a responsible member of the international community.
Earlier, it was reported that North Korea had shipped coal to Russia last year which was then delivered to South Korea and Japan in a likely violation of U.N. sanctions.
The U.N. Security Council banned North Korean exports of coal last August under sanctions intended to cut off an important source of the foreign currency Pyongyang needs to fund its nuclear weapon and long-range missile program.
