Afghan envoy terms Pakistan’s TTA, HN suspects handover move as ‘news’

Islamabad, Jan. 31 (TNS): A day after Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman announced Pakistan handed over Taliban and Haqqani network suspects to Kabul in 2017, Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Omar Zakhilwal has termed the development as ‘news’.

Dr Omar Zakhilwal expressing surprise over the news, it seemed that even he was not aware of the move.

The Afghan ambassador took to the Twitter on Wednesday and said if this indeed happened, it would be a huge step forward in Pakistan and Afghanistan mutual bilateral relations.

Amid recent wave of terrorism in Afghanistan, Dr. Faisal on Tuesday announced major development that Pakistan haf handed over more than two dozen suspects belonging to the Taliban and their affiliated Haqqani network to Afghanistan last year.

The handover took place in November last year just weeks after the maiden visit of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to Kabul.

However, the extradition of 27 suspected members of the Afghan Taliban and Haqqani network was kept confidential till now.
