KARACHI, Jan 03 (TNS): The apex court on Saturday expressing anger over the deteriorating state of affair in Pakistan’s biggest and most dense industrial city and said apparently seemed the city being run on make-shift arrangements.
Supreme Court made these remarks while hearing the case over delay in permanent appointment of municipal commissioner in Karachi.
Expressing dismay over Sindh Government justice Gulzar Ahmed said, “How do government being run? You people has ruined the entire Sindh, are you given government only for damage the system,” he said adding that Karachi ranked in first ten mostly populated cities globally, however regretfully it was running on ad-hoc basis.He criticizing the appointment of temporary municipal commissioner said that he was not aware of city problems as when he will out of his office the heaps of issues will littered everywhere.
“No authority has any sense of responsibility rapidly worsen situation of the city and if Karachi Does not look after at the moment than it could never become better city,” he remarked .
Replying SC remarks Advocate General Sindh Zamir Ghamro told the court that he will talk to Sindh government and would be resolved.Apex court asked DG KDA, “who is the responsible of china cutting and illegal possession on lands and what is the plan to secure these lands after ending illegal possession, authorities should change these plots into green belts.” He continued, “The encroachments on welfare plots should immediately get free and make the footpaths green.”
He explained that court was not only criticizing government as judges sitting here to help it out.The KDA counsel citing it was the work which was pending for decades, therefore extension in deadline in required as more details being collected from master plan. He also mentioned that KDA has lack of machinery to end such a huge work in short period of time.
“Technology rapidly changing in the world but you don’t have machinery , it is ridiculous don’t try to make people fool,” Justice Gulzar remarked adding if KDA has not machinery it should be closed.
