World Cancer Day being observed, SC building turned into pink

Islamabad, Feb. 4 (TNS): World Cancer Day is being observed on Sunday with an aim to raise awareness among people about the disease and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

On the eve of February 4 also globally known as the World Cancer Day, the Supreme Court of Pakistan was illuminated in the pink colour in support of Pink Ribbon Pakistan.

Theme of the Day is Together We Can defeat cancer.

A number of seminars, workshops and discussions held to spread awareness among masses about the deadly disease.

In a statement on the day, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said Punjab Government is taking effective measures for diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.

The event, coloring the apex court’s building in pink, was organised in commemoration of World Cancer Day, to raise awareness about all types of cancers, and stand in solidarity with the survivors, especially breast cancer as the prevalence of breast cancer is the maximum amongst all the cancers in Pakistan i.e. 38.5%.

For the first time in the history of Pakistan, the prestigious building of the Supreme Court was illuminated for a cause which is most important for millions of women of Pakistan.
