Islamabad June 24 (TNS): Barely a day prior to the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s moon sighting sitting and after his mysterious vanishing from the scene for two days, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai of Masjid Al Qasim suddenly surfaced in Dubai on Saturday.
Two days back, the family members had reported that Mufti Popalzai has gone missing
The rift over moon sighting between the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and the Mufti Popalzai’s committee was highly likely this time again, which could have taken an ugly turn with countrymen celebrating two Eid.
Sources said that the authorities successfully managed to convince to spend the last two or three days of the fasting month in Dubai known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture, and a lively nightlife scene.
Unlike the majority of the countrymen who had started observing Ramazan from Saturday, May 27 in line with the announcement of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, people in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had followed Mufti Popalzai, starting the holy month a day earlier.
It was highly likely that the fire-brand Mufti Popalzai was going to announce about the moon sighting on Sunday, authorities managed to send him out of the country to celebrate one Eid in the country.
Mufti Popalzai left the Islamabad Airport on June 22 and landed at Dubai airport the same day. It remains a mystery who has sponsored the one month ostentatious foreign trip of the Mufti, who is returning on August 2.
